Free from the Yoke (Session 5 of 7) Alun R. runs for Alex Greenshields, Dan Brown, Jason Zanes, and Joe F After the failure to build the the Highway every House feels the displeasure of the Wise while they and their representatives on Earth lose some control and the Great City contracts. Some Houses retrench into their ancient traditions while others forge new roles or become more autocratic. Then, after 20 years, the Listeners to the Wise make it clear that the Land is lost if decline is not halted. The Spirits of the Land are unquiet and only a return to the core values that enabled the Wise to free the Land can give them rest. Some characters remain: Kasthera of the Chisel & Mallet devotes decades to the study of Lore, while Elina of the Cursed, too old to continue as a Scout, takes up a more administrative (and influential?) post as Factor. Then there's Eva bint Salah, Bogatyr of the Shining Path (who resents her father's actions a generation ago), and Saruke the young ambassador of the Jezdec Horselords brought up on the legend of 'Gerel and his spirit Centaurs'. Together they must face the fresh challenges of the Second Age of the Land... Hard City: The Brass Key (Session 1) Lowell Francis runs for Donogh, Sabine V., and Travis Allison Our protagonists--a boxer on the skids, an insomniac vet barkeep, and a former hitter for the mob--take on the case of a wealthy socialite who has gone missing from his engagement party. Copperhead County (Session 3 of 4) Donogh runs for Chris Bench, Ian, Sabine V., and Will H More 'Western Crime' action. We dive into the Hellraisers' lives as they take stock after their casino heist. But despite their desire to take it easy their eyes are turning to the same old problem that binds them together - getting Carter. Free from the Yoke (Session 6 of 7) Alun R. runs for Dan Brown, Jason Zanes, and Joe F Elina departs the first Summer Conclave of the Age with the rest of the Cursed delegation after the Wise stripped them of their role in favour of the 'Pilgrims'. Meanwhile, we discover there is more to the relationship between Kasthera of the Chisel & Mallet and Eva of the Shining Path than anyone had realised - a meeting that leaves Eva itching for another fight, which she scratches when she sees Saruke of the Jezdec Horselords in conversation with Kassie. There's a Duel, an investigation of a work camp in the (literal) Shadow of one of the great statues that delineate the Land of the Wise, and a ritual revealed. Then...the Shadow tells a stark truth, Kassie demonstrates the loss of any remaining naivety, and her Jezdec Bodyguards act on her desire...blood is spilled on sacred ground... Nahual (Session 1 of 2) Will H runs for Jason Zanes, Keith Stetson, Patrick Knowles, and Rich Rogers Copperhead County (Session 4 of 4) Donogh runs for Chris Bench, Ian, and Will H 'Western Crime' takes a turn for the ultra-violent as the Hellraisers get Carter. Their new arsenal unveiled as a roadside IED, RPGs and more take over the streets of Seco Creek. Hard City: The Brass Key (Session 2) Lowell Francis runs for David Morrison, Donogh, and Travis Allison A misstep at the Cobalt Club catches up to our protagonists as they run into enforcers from the Rossi crime family. They manage to get the drop on them and rescue the missing heir's mistress, but Rossi's men head out to inform their boss that one of our heroes, a former mob hitter, is on their trail. We cut out a little early due to tech issues but should wrap this case next session. Free from the Yoke (Session 3 of 7) Alun R. runs for Alex Greenshields, Dan Brown, Jason Zanes, and Joe F As the Chisel & Mallet try to make progress on the Highway of the Wise, Salah of the Shining Path undermines the project and engineers the fall of his own High Priest. Perhaps emboldened by this, The Cursed change the balance of power in the city of al Tariq, taking coin from the Church. Meanwhile the Jezdec Horselords investigate the Place of Bones to discover a threat to their way of life that requires Gerel the Vagabond to call in a debt on the recently revealed 'Pilgrims' to have them join the defence of the Steppes. Then, Kasthera of the Chisel & Mallet leads an embassy into the Riverlands where her bodyguard, Durin, confronts the 'Marauding Serpents' with shock and awe, buying time for Elina of the Cursed to protect some innocents and Verhalf 'The Falcon', to place the Riverfolk under the protection of the Wise...and there's an Army of Imperial Dead... Xcrawl World (Session 3 of 3) Rich Rogers runs for Greg G., Marc Majcher, Mark (they/them), and Steven Watkins DBB Finale! - Zaster's Disasters enter the final room and finish the crawl! Then, we follow them outside the dungeon to see them in a snowy not New York. Swords of the Serpentine: Ill Met in Eversink (Session 5) Lowell Francis runs for Alexi S., Brandon Brylawski, Keith Stetson, and Robbie Boerth The group follows leads from their case--leading to a wraithful break-in at a murdered assassin's house and a night at the opera, but all roads lead to the pungent Tanner's District and a confrontation with a sorceress who faked her death before, but less so now. Copperhead County (Session 1 of 4) Donogh runs for Chris, Ian, and Will H Switching the focus of our ‘Western Crime’ series to the modern day; we meet the Harris Hellraisers, running the Lucky No.7 bar on the outskirts of Bright City...embroiled in a war between the Barretts and Carter mobs. Free from the Yoke (Session 4 of 7) Alun R. runs for Alex Greenshields, Dan Brown, Jason Zanes, and Joe F Salah of the Shining Path is determined to further undermine the Highway of the Wise and convinces several groups within the Church to support him. Meanwhile, the Cursed launch their seasonal festival but the Jezdec Horselords are shocked when their Khan attends while an army of Imperial Dead menaces the steppe. They look elsewhere for leadership. Chisel and Mallet Ambassador, Kassie, is certain that someone is undermining her efforts to support the Wise so finds somewhere 'safe' for the Riverland Engineers. Then ... a warehouse heist and an ancient steppe ritual; the Dead confronted and a potent Fist; and the sun rises in the south on heroes riding out of history and into myth. Copperhead County (Session 2 of 4) Donogh runs for Ian, Sabine V., and Will H 'Western Crime' is the name of the game as the Hellraisers aim to take down three proverbial birds with one stone, taking down a van full of cash from the 'El Rey' Casino, blaming it on their enemy Baron Carter and his allies the Heathens MC, and ruining the return-home gig of rival Patton Price. Swords of the Serpentine: Ill Met in Eversink (Session 6) Lowell Francis runs for Alexi S., Brandon Brylawski, Keith Stetson, and Robbie Boerth The group runs down further leads in an effort to figure out which of their two suspects is involved and what means they have for taking them down...leading to a final confrontation on an opera hall stage. The Veil: Iterations (Session 14) Lowell Francis runs for Ethan Harvey, Patrick Knowles, Sherri, and Tyler Lominack The retrieval of a Dollbot leads to miscommunications, a ramen debacle, and a confrontation about literal life choices. On the other hand, the rest of the team looks into dealing with the eco-powered serial killer they decided to not pursue earlier. Star Wars Saturday Justice Velocity (Session 2) Rich Rogers runs for Ethan Harvey, Greg G., Paul Rivers, and Sabine V. The Neon Quarter Podrace involves lots of cheating in the sewers, you know. A generation after the rebellion that drove 'The Empire' out the Wise Ones are still revered for the leadership their provided and the ultimate sacrifice they made. Now they watch over the inheritors of the rebellion through the trees their bodies nourished. We learn about 'The Jezdec Horselords', the church of 'The Shining Path', the artizans of 'The Sparking Chisel and Blazing Mallet', and the refugees and outcasts who have bound themselves into a community viewed by many as 'The Cursed'. There's the Spring Conclave of the Wise in this, the 21st year since their victory, the announcement that their Listeners have dreamed of a highway built in unexpected emulation of Imperial practice, and a House ignored. Then, a Monolith, Rogues, and a...Tiger... Sadly human error (mine!) means the middle hour was not recorded... Swords of the Serpentine: Ill Met in Eversink (Session 4) Lowell Francis runs for Brandon Brylawski, Harry Coins, Keith Stetson, and Robbie Boerth The group begins their second case, which is good since they're living above their means having had to kill their employer from the first case. Seco Creek Vigilance Committee Donogh runs for Jonathan, Mark, Puckett, and Sabine V. In the first of our 'Western Crime' series, we go deep into the town's history; where the choices of the posse have a huge impact on the fate of the town and its people.
