GAUNTLET COMMUNITY OPEN GAMING
The Gauntlet Community is proud to present a free weekend of open online gaming, taking place Thursday, February 25th through Sunday, February 28th. Gauntlet Community Open Gaming will be completely free. Anyone can play—you don’t have to be a community member.

We'll manage sign-ups and event details via our dedicated calendar app.

All events will open for sign up on Monday, February 1st at Noon Eastern US time. All events will follow the Gauntlet Community Code of Conduct and all GMs will be expected to explain and use safety tools of some kind (Lines & Veils, Script Change, X-Card, etc). We expect players and GMs to respect those rules and systems to help ensure our event is fun and comfortable for all participants. We will also have channels on our Discord server to contact in the event of issues with play during the event.

For general questions about what to expect, check out our event handbook.

I'm a Player! What do I need to know?
To play, you will need to register at the calendar. Event times should be shown based on your browser's local time. You can sign up any time after February 1 at Noon EST. Games have a Waitlist as well—you’ll be notified by e-mail later if you move up from the Waitlist to the event itself. If you decide you're not interested in an event, or something comes up, please make sure you drop from the event, even if you're just on the Waitlist. This courtesy makes sure others get a chance to play!

If you don’t know the system for a game that sounds interesting, don’t worry. All GMs will teach any rules as needed. For the session itself, you’ll need a reliable internet connection and a microphone. Games can been played via tablet and phone, but your experience won't be optimal—use a laptop or desktop computers for the best results. A camera will enhance your fun and make it easier for other players to interact with you, but is not required to play. Most sessions will use a video conferencing app (Streamyard, Jitsi, Zoom, etc) along with a way to manage games materials like Google Sheets or virtual tabletops like Roll20. Check your game listing for details.

When the event starts, you'll need to join our Discord server for mustering at the time of the event. Your GM will send you an invite to the Discord. Your GM will check in beforehand and send out the link/invitation to their private video conference for the game you’ve signed up to play from there. The Discord server will be maintained throughout the event to allow for pick up games, questions, posting AP video, post-game raves, and general chat.

This event is free. You may make donations to help support our Special Guests if you'd like to. Our community members want to introduce as many people to online TTRPG gaming as we can, in the smoothest way possible. We have years of experience doing this that we're eager to share.

We’re also looking for folks to help out behind the scenes (watching the Discord, sorting out technical problems, checking in with GMs). Email us at gauntletopengaming@gmail.com. Please include the word VOLUNTEER in the subject line!

When does everything happen?
We've got sessions scheduled starting Thursday February 25 at 9:00 AM and running through Sunday February 28 at 2:00 PM Eastern US time.
We've scheduled mandatory breaks between game slots. Slots start at 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 7:00 PM, Midnight, and 4:30 AM Eastern US time. Our last slot is Sunday at 2:00 PM, with closing ceremonies at 6:00 PM.

All game slots are listed as a maximum of 4 hours to allow for in-game breaks and full sessions, but you should feel free to make them shorter.
All scheduled games must start at the designated times, please do not plan any GCOG games at other times.

All events will be listed on The Gauntlet Open Gaming Event Calendar
