Digital/Online LARPs—How Do They Work?
Time: Saturday 7:30 PM Eastern
Host: Maury Brown
Panelists: Tara M. Clapper, Gerrit Reininghaus
Description: With the phenomenal popularity of Critical Role and the awarding of the Diana Jones award to the Actual Play movement, how RPGs and their cousins, larps, are played and showcased online is a hot topic. Some feel that larp can't be translated to the digital medium, others believe it doesn't have to be in-person, just as D&D is now played online frequently. Live games with digital participants have their own challenges in design, mechanics, and community. This roundtable will discuss the trend and what it may mean going forward for designers, players, and community managers.

The Genre Hack: Old-School Systems, New Cool Games
Time: Sunday 8 PM Eastern
Host: Richard Ruane
Panelists: Kyle Thompson, Maria Rivera
Description: Systems have come a long way since 1974, but there’s still a lot of life in the old bones of TSR-era D&D (or Warhammer or Advanced Fighting Fantasy). We’ll talk about Gauntleteers’ experiences hacking DIY & OSR systems for a range of genres that don’t fit all of the classic D&D tropes, from fantasy space to Game of Thrones to Mecha to Motherfucking Demons to haunted and haunting fairy tales. Our focus will be on hacking some of the Gauntlet’s favorite OSR-systems (including Troika!, Beyond the Wall, World of Dungeons, Dungeon Crawl Classics, The Black Hack, and Into the Odd) to make them work with the genres that inspire us.
