What should you do if you have issues with someone you’re playing with on the Gauntlet Calendar? First we encourage you to make use of safety tools at the table, but we understand that some problems may be hard in the moment or difficult to formulate since they may be more meta (player behaviors vs in-game activities).

If you have issues with a fellow player involving:

• Violation of safety procedures at the table
• Bullying
• Harassment 
• Other violations of the Code of Conduct

You should contact the Gauntlet Care Committee at [email protected]. These are serious issues and we need to be alerted so we can take action. We've had to take action regarding these issues a handful of times in 3+ years, but we always worry that it is a question of reporting over incidence. 

If you have issues with a player involving:

• Missing sessions where they don’t drop or notify the GM
• Interruptions
• Aggressive intrusions into other player’s scene
• Other issues of play style and culture. 

You can also contact the GCC. If a couple of folks give us a heads up, then we will reach out to that player to make sure they understand our play culture and ensure they’ve aware of their own behavior. Some folks aren’t, some may be new, some may come from a very different gaming environment. We want to check in to see if they have a sense of what’s happening. Another question arose about the procedure for game facilitators who are uncomfortable with or feel unsafe running for a particular person. Just as players do, facilitators have the right to open door—meaning they don’t have an obligation to run for that person.

If you feel this way, you have a couple of options. You can reach out to the player yourself, especially if you want to engage in a dialogue. We'd like you tell the GCC you’re doing this just so we’re aware of the issue. On the other hand a facilitator can ask us to intervene. In this case we will reach out to the player to inform them that the facilitator’s uncomfortable running for them. This happens sometimes where two people's approaches to play create friction.

We will ask that the facilitator and player in question not communicate with one another about the issue. We also ask that neither “sub-tweet” about it in our spaces (Slack, Gauntlet Twitter, the Forums). This is a major step and one I've had to invoke twice.
