We begin the second quarterly arc with our founders and their apparent allies descending into the depths to battle against the Wrath-spirit infested ancient giant monkey. The battle is difficult as they desperately attempt to hold back these forces and protect the exorcists.

Star Trek Adventures: Kintsugi (Session 0)

The set up, character creation, and session zero for a new quarterly series of Star Trek Adventures. On a Challenger-class ship built with salvage from the battle of Wolf 359, our crew heads out into a galaxy still coming to terms with those events. The Federation has rushed out new ships and pulled from old ones from mothballs-- with green crews and officers called back to duty, regardless of record.

Watch King Collinet Muskerry I try to hold on to his crown, his life and everything he holds dear, as his enemies plot to take it all away. A game that was full of surprises. Spoiler: all 3 playtesters are amazing!

The session zero character creation for a new quarterly series of Masks: A New Generation, set in a world where most of the supers have vanished in the wake of a strange event. This series is inspired by Base Raiders, Planetary, and Young Justice.

(Finale First Arc) - The group gets the final pieces they need from Wayland, but at great cost. Then they open Dragon Hill to final face the Great Red Dragon, last sorcerer of the Serpent Men, to free the ley lines and their friend.

Finale - England turns against the team as they become hunted fugitives, even as they try to stop the Harbinger. Finally facing the Company of the Gentry, they realize another force has been at work, manipulating them and their conflict--leading to a final battle and the death of one of the team.

Finale - Following their confrontation with Prometheus, the team regroups and then finally explores the final reality warped casino--Sherwood Forest--the family friendly resort under the sway of The Magician, Grimaldi. They finally begin to understand the nature of the archetypes and tarot here--realizing the Harbinger's goal of creating a second Ragnarok, having been left behind by the first.

The Founders look at issues within Karak Minor-- from researches to questions of naming rights. The turning of the year brings with it construction and discovery. Finally with the new year the human sorcerers and their exorcists arrive to aid in the disposal of the Wrath Monkey. But the dwarves sense tensions among the wizards and the newest guild offers a permanent solution should things go awry.

"Some Extended Evening" - Hargrave House confronts the Gargoyle while Lord Oda languishes in jail, but then their rivals gather them for an extended night's entertainment. A 'chance' meeting with a hooded acquaintance, the appearance of the Wraith, and an almost life-ending performance make interesting times at the Palais de Gaiete.

The team pulls back a little from their indulgences at the various casino tables and begin to explore some of the Las Vegas weirdness, leading to a confrontation at a dwarven laundry facility. They interact with some of the other forces at play here--The Gambler, The Valkyrie--leading to a meeting with Mr. Fire, aka Prometheus who alternately offers bargains and tosses them out a penthouse window.

A new year brings with it new surprises and the first child to be born within the halls of the refounded Karak Minor. Matters of trade press at the imperial centaurs expand their reach in the valley lands. But the founders opt to delve deep into the mountain to see if they can find a solution to the vermin problem-- but what they discover turns out to be darker and more dangerous than they could ever have imagined.

The team returns to DIVISION HQ from Island Zero and face a complicated debrief. The agents get some downtime and decisions about their future are made. But the war goes on and they're dispatched to a hostile and fallen Great Britain where the forces of the Fae threaten their colonialist return. (This starts the mission The Company of Gentry, an AK stretch goal mystery written by Kieron Gillen).

Apocalypse Keys: All the Bells on Earth (Session 9)

The team returns from their foray into the The Parasitic Library. After a debrief and some downtime they're dispatched for their new mission: All the Bells on Earth, a case inspired by Tim Powers and American Gods. They arrive in Vegas and most team members quickly go off program to enjoy themselves with the "walking around" money they've been given.

Rosewood Abbey: Series 1 (Session 2)
The Rolistes Podcast runs for Jim Likes Games, Michele, and Sabine V.
"Grotesque Mockery" is a mystery by Sean F. Smith for Rosewood Abbey. Someone defaced a grotesque from the church's northern transept to the likeness of the Abbey's prior. Three monks (a cheesemaker, an herbalist, and the third looks after the ossuary), are tasked with uncovering who committed this infamy.

After a couple of missed sessions ruined my numbering, we're back - although sadly without Anti-Christian Death Starr. Nikko, Judy and Kraken face a pair of Frankensteins in an abandoned cellar. The hunters each deal with their own romantic disappointments and surprises, as well as problems at home and work, before returning to the #iHunt app to look for new monster-hunting jobs.

Trapped beneath a stone palace and surrounded by warriors, Estan and Kamil become thunder and lightning. Circe harnesses the power of shadows to reach for her friends. Desperately looking for answers, Etienne draws up a lost love from the watery depths. The black cat of Death stalks the streets tonight, hunting the snake whose eye is the moon.

The team welcomes a new member and briefs them on the situation just before an incursion alarm sounds. While Suriel remains back at the base Eggther and the newbie head out and engage the colossal beast, against orders. The adventurers returned to the city of Urud, intent on finding the people responsible for the death of Alara’s family. They visited the temple of Khifrit, the sun god, where Solon volunteered Zaal for a duel. This led the party to a secret room, where they heard disturbing news.

Our magicians search the grounds of Grey's manor in the aftermath of the killings--they discover a letter from the enigmatic E which reveal key details and find a paining with a hidden score. Before they burn the mansion down, they use their sleuthing skills to put together who did this--and where the Grey's daughter in, leading them to a local boarding school with a sinister secret.

Etienne receives a cryptic summons, and the adventurers go to meet it together. Circe engages in sorcerous healing, Estan and Kamil infiltrate a heavily fortified building, and Ampyx reaches at least halfway across the divide separating her from Etienne.

After the debrief for the Barcelona mission, the team wrestles with their persona agendas. Suriel pushes his plans forward and Eggther discovers that that they may not be the last. But a new mission interrupts and they're sent to Island Zero to look into the abyss and find out the fate of a missing kaiju and its teen pilot.

The team's debrief is a little more positive, or so it seems. They settle back into life at Chicago DIVISION HQ--from training to potlucks. Soon they are dispatched into the Parasitic Library to stop it before it can consume all of the organizations secrets...and more...

Defy the Gods: playtest (Session 6 of 6)

Alara and Solon travel to Alara's home village, which is overrun by scorpion-people. In an attempt to keep them from attacking Urud, things get a little out of hand. Sometimes, to prevent the world from plunging into eternal night, you have to go to the Underworld with a giant scorpion heart. Watch what happens when players figure out where the game is broken and just push on that spot. It's so good. You can see their character keeper here, in its final form.

The Founders look inward, dealing with tensions and sorrow within the community. With new rituals they draw the settlement together and into a era of a greater population and reach. New buildings and ceremonies mark this entrance into their third year, but a new issues rears its head in the form of a group of stranger dwarves and their settlement caravan.

We meet Nikko, Starr, Judy and Kraken, a group of mismatched monster-hunters desperately trying to make ends meet in San Jenaro. Things start to look up as they take out a murderous doll and move on to deal with an upscale bar's Frankenstein problem, while his older comrades offer Nikko some unsolicited relationship advice.

Defy the Gods: playtest (Session 4 of 6)
Chris Sellers runs for Mairi, Marc Majcher, and Maxwell Lander
The characters explored an ancient Atlantean clockwork city carved from obsidian, searching for a violet jewel sacred to a community of lizard people. Alara the Sword was looking for raiders who killed her sibling, Solon the Sorcerer spent the entire time as a giant owl, and Zaal the Wolfling recoiled at the artificiality of the place. This is the fourth session in the first playtest series for Defy the Gods, but the first one of that series that I’ve uploaded (because I keep forgetting to record it). Still, it’s not a bad time to tune in—two players continue from earlier in the series, and we welcomed a new player.

Trail of Cthulhu: Fearful Symmetries (Session 6)

Our magicians finally have the chance to work through the grimoire & papers, with each beginning to test the limits of their abilities-- nearly leading to the destruction of one member as he reaches out to gain the guidance of an elder force. Information is gathered, lives are threatened, visions are had-- leading to a trip culminating in a very physical battle against an ancient creature of Britain.

The return of one of the murder victims reveals to Sampson some of the forces coming to threaten the manananggal. Bezelbub works to control his hunger and Cetus tries to pull himself together after a poisonous vision. With their discoveries in hand the team tries to come to a conclusion and find a way to finally face the Harbinger.

We welcome Rae to the group and tie in his character to the others'. It's carnival time in the island city of Babilos, as the temple of Lithur prepares to take power. Everyone's celebrating, but the adventurers are broke! So they work out a gig to get some money, using Circe’s sorcerous illusions and Kamil's "dance of the seven lightnings." Then it's time to party: Estan carouses powerfully, Etienne hides their crushes behind an inebriated façade, and Kamil barks up the wrong trees. But Ampyx gets an apocalyptic vision from Lithur, down in the surf, leading to an intense conversation with Circe.

The year opens with the arrival of a travelling opera company, and the Founders take advantage of this to build ties with their neighbors. Two issues rear their heads: beastly attacks on the new Brewery and the vindictive death of one of the Guild Masters. To uncover the old rites of Karak Minor the group dives deep into forgotten chambers and unearths old secrets.

For the first session of this playtest, the players made their characters, built the world, and created relationships in depth. The mystic eats secrets, the sorcerer loves their liquid body, the wolfling is beset by spirits that expose their feelings, and the sailor hides heartbreak in tales of bravado.

The team begins to dig deeper into the mysterious, floral deaths in Barcelona. They uncover several leads, even as the alternately draw in and alienate the locals. But when Eggther and Weeper's passions are ignited by the last of the Efreeti, violence breaks out and lights the university campus on fire.

The team begins to dig into the secrets behind the Manananggal Murders. They make contact with potent locals, folkloric and otherwise. But even as they grow closer to a solution, the Doomsday Clock ticks away. That leads to a confrontation with a giant spectral serpent who causes chaos in the apartment building.

A new year arrives in Karak Minor and our Founders meet to discuss both what has happened and what they want going forward. Then, out of the snows emerges guests--lured by the newly established merchant's inn. These visitors turn out to be minotaurs from across the sea. There's successful trade of both goods and information. After their departure, the dwarves once again consider their future plans.

With the information garnered from the Rollright Coven and the sinister faerie in the well, the group begin to work through their leads--finding out more details about their friend's behavior prior to the broken ritual, meeting a sinister art dealer, and speaking with a mentor who seems to have his own agenda.

The team returns to DIVISION HQ for a debrief and a chance to talk with one another about their experiences. Soon they're called for a new mission, sending them to Barcelona to investigate mysterious deaths and flower petal bodies, even as they try to uncover the connection to a group Returners, escapees from abduction by supernatural forces. This is an original mystery titled "Till We Have Faces."

The team gets an aggressive debrief from Captain Noonan, trying to ascertain exactly what led to Angel Gorimel's death. But their new case takes them to Manila in the heart of the rainy seasons to investigate a series of killings. This is the first session of "The Manananggal Murders."
