Hi guys,
As an old roleplayer, I think that kobolds (dogs or dragons) had the advantage of the little man behavior. I dropped out from 1st Ed, played some Paranoia and supers games, then didn't make it back to RP until Dungeon World was published. I missed that time your module came from, but before in the olden times, kobolds were funny for their insane confidence and wacky traps.
I remember hearing about Tucker's Kobolds and having the impression that the author missed the point that kobolds were meant to be humorous not deadly. Perhaps the gaming community had kept that strictly comedic view, at least in Perkin's mind.
