I had never heard of this, but looking at the name "Nuromen", I was kind of wondering if it might have been intended as an anagram of "Númenor" so when the tolkienesque elements came up, that was probable "yup".

Thanks for the interesting dissection - you both hit on what BLUEHOLME™ is spawned from. It's not trying to be cool or clever (but please feel free to say it is!), it's trying to capture Dr Eric J. Holmes's quirky, easy-going, and fun-centric approach to gaming which was in a way a counterpoint to the rising "officialdom" of the AD&D to come.
