First off, loved the show! You guys did a great job and the chemistry was excellent!

I loved your talk on the fine line of creating comedy and mystery in a game. With comedy, I feel like a lot of that has to flow naturally with the players. Set up ludicrous scenarios but where the comedy is generated is how the players interact with those situations. This element is highly reliant on the group dynamic. You don't necessarily want a comedy heavy game with a group that wants a dark brooding dungeon crawl.

Mystery is a much more complicated beast as you have to create elements that are easily visible and understood by the players. They need to know what the goals are and have a clear concept on how to proceed. It is very hard to make sure that they collect the evidence they need or pick up on the clues provided and is the biggest balancing act out there in tabletop rpgs I feel.

Anyways, loved the podcast and can't wait to see what else you bring to the table!

Hey Diane and Zack! Cool ep, looking forward to more.

I've had some amazing sessions of InSpectres, like laughing so hard my sides hurt, great. With the right group, its just comedy gold.

Where we always came unstuck was the amount of plot hooks we threw out, instead of concentrating and resolving ones we already had. By the time a case was complete, we were always asking ourselves 'But why were the hobos in the area all wearing their shoes backwards?'
Ultimately, it added to the laughs, our group still talks about the case which was something to go with a gorilla or demon moth, and had to ended with an explosion because we had no real idea what was going on. Good times!
Oh and we didn't use the confessional either! It just never came up.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words.

Two clarifications, then I'm out!

• Weird agents are limited to one per franchise at a time, and they don't earn franchise dice on rolls of 5 or 6.

• Stress rolls use the lowest die rolled, not the highest.

Cheers,

- J

This was such a helpful review! I had heard of this game and been told that it was great but it didn't sound like it had enough mechanics for my style. After listening to this, I want to give it a try. Thanks,
