Valid critique of the competitive aspect of Carolina Death Crawl! While it is a polite fiction, it encourages people to play high value cards, which are, by design, the most thematically challenging. It's much easier and less interesting to invoke 1-point cards, while the 5-point cards are generally harrowing and awful. So in my experience the patina of competition gets players parsing and using the difficult cards early and often. Thanks for playing, and I look forward to admiring your swamp ghost overlays.

Thanks for the feedback, Jason! In the early days of The Gauntlet Podcast, Dan and I were toying with the idea of doing a sort of 'trial' format where one person was in charge of arguing for the game and the other was in charge of picking it apart. Carolina Death Crawl was the rare game he and I disagreed on, and so it was to be the first game on the 'docket,' so to speak. We ditched that idea, but I'm happy we were eventually able to cover CDC in some way, as it is one of my personal favorites.
